Kiewit Offshore Services fabricated the 11,000-ton topsides for the Tamar field development located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The topsides will be set onto a jacket (also fabricated at KOS) in 800 feet of water and will have total production capacity of 1,600 MMSCFD.
Kiewit's expertise in organizing and executing complex slipforming operations was needed on the construction of this offshore, oil-production platform after the original contractor fell behind schedule and over budget. A Kiewit joint venture constructed the concrete gravity base structure and fabricated and installed the topside mechanical works.
Completed October 2011, the engineer-procure-construct (EPC) Cobra Castor project is a facility for underground gas storage in an abandoned salt dome off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. Kiewit Offshore Services provided engineering services, procurement services and construction of two jackets in Cadiz, Spain and the construction of a 2,000-ton topsides and 10,000-ton topsides in Ingleside, Texas.
Kiewit Offshore Services used its deep hole to offload the rig from the heavy lift ship. Kiewit's scope included installation of eight thrusters for the dynamic positioning system and preparation and modifications to the rig for accommodation of the well site.
Kiewit Offshore Services fabricated the 2,500-ton topsides and 4,800-ton jacket for the Polvo field development located offshore Brazil. KOS completed this project in 2006.
The Hebron Field will be developed using a stand-alone, concrete gravity-based structure (GBS) production platform. The GBS will consist of a reinforced concrete structure designed to withstand the weight of the topsides, sea ice, icebergs, and meteorological and oceanographic conditions at the offshore Hebron Project Site.
The Terra Nova Integrated Swivel Turnaround Project was a $75M contract that was of critical importance to the Client, as well as the Newfoundland Offshore Oil Industry. The Project involved a 3 month at Quayside repair and upgrade of some of the key systems on board the Terra Nova FPSO, one of three producing installations located offshore Newfoundland.
With a peak employment of more than 1,000 personnel, a Kiewit-led joint venture engineered, procured and constructed this 18-module, 11,000-tonne topsides at its Newfoundland fabrication facilities. The topsides were integrated with a hull and turret and completed in July 2005.
The Newfoundland Transshipment Terminal serves as a crude oil transfer and storage facility servicing the Hibernia oil fields. The expansion added a second identical tanker dock and doubled the terminal's capacity by allowing two ships to berth at the same time. The new berth consists of a loading platform and berthing, and mooring dolphins to tie up the tanker.
Constructed by a Kiewit-led partnership, this liquefied natural gas terminal was the first constructed in Canada. It was commissioned in 2008. The jetty will span 300 metres offshore and will be equipped to receive liquefied natural gas from the largest tankers in the world.
